A PLAIN GUIDE

Listen first

The free first consultation

The first meeting is for listening, before a plan is suggested.

Big Bear Lake reflecting the pines and lakefront homes.

Mark asks what the business does, who it should reach, what is already working, and where the owner feels stuck. Current marketing, busy seasons, how inquiries are handled, and the website already online belong in that same conversation. A next step comes after those answers. Call (909) 443-2260.

  1. Have the website address, the main goals, and a short description of the customers.
  2. Bring examples of inquiries or marketing results if you already have them.
  3. Skip the polished presentation. Passwords stay off an introductory call.
  4. A phone message can collect a request. That request is not a booked time.
  5. In-person time follows his Tuesday-through-Friday schedule in the mountains.

Call or write from the contact page.

How those mountain days work is in year-round support and in-person visits.

Two ears and one mouth

He often says he has two ears and one mouth. Here’s the deal. He wants to understand what the owner is trying to achieve before he explains a service.

The call is also a chance to see whether the work fits. He has not described a particular project he turned down. One boundary is already set. He does not currently maintain Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress sites. If the only request is upkeep on those platforms, he would say the service may not match.

A move onto the platform he supports is a different job, described in moving off an old website platform.

An assessment request is not a signed job

A recent preparation task was an assessment request for a mountain lodging business. He wanted a simple meeting outline, backed by a thorough review.

That work was getting ready to talk. It was not a completed consultation, and it was not a signed client.

A request is not an appointment

Kendrick Mountain Consulting is based in Big Bear and serves San Bernardino Mountains businesses. He is generally in the mountains Tuesday through Friday. An in-person consultation in Big Bear can be arranged on that schedule.

He does not list a street address, and there is no walk-in office. The phone system can collect a consultation request. Someone still has to confirm the time before it is an appointment.

What he listens for on a visit is in why local visits matter for marketing.

Questions

How do I ask for a Big Bear free consultation?

Call or send a note with the website address, the town, and what you want to grow. A Big Bear meeting waits on a confirmed time. The message itself is only the request.

What should I have ready?

The site address, the main business goals, and a brief picture of your customers. Inquiry examples or marketing notes help when you have them. You do not need slides, and you do not hand over passwords.

Will you keep maintaining my current website builder?

Not when the request is only upkeep on Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress. He would say the fit is off. Rebuilding on the platform he supports is a separate conversation.

Does a lodging assessment mean you already have that client?

No. The mountain lodging note was preparation for a possible meeting. It does not describe a finished consultation or a contract.

Is the first conversation a ranking promise?

No. It is a chance to understand the business and judge fit. Rankings are not promised.

Want to talk before a plan is written?

Share the website address and what you hope changes. Mark listens first, then says whether a next step makes sense.
